Gene McGowan is a Dixieland Jazz fan. Gene has been part of the Sioux Falls jazz music scene since the 1970’s and his performances have included concerts and appearances at regional dance halls, clubs and other venues. A retired US Navy Lieutenant, Gene was a director of the US Navy Band and the US Navy Band Sea Chanters. He is the Founder and CEO of The McGowan Capital Group, a private equity company based in Sioux Falls. In 2014, he received an honorary Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music and Entrepreneurship from South Dakota State University.
