Food Vendor Frequently Asked Questions

What are the hours of operation?

The hours of JazzFest are Thursday, July 15, 2010, from 5:00pm to 10:00pm,  Friday, July 16, 2010, from 5:00pm to 11:45pm and Saturday, July 17, 2010, from 12:00pm to 11:45pm. All Vendors must be open for business by 6:00pm on July 17, 2009. Vendors can continue food sales up to one half hour after the end of the last artist’s performance.

When can I set-up or takedown?

JazzFest staff will assign set-up times for all vendors prior to 5:00pm on Thursday, July 15, 2010. Vendors can start takedown immediately after JazzFest concludes. All Vendor property and supplies must be removed from the park premises by Noon on Sunday, July 18, 2010.

Can I pick the location for my booth?

No. JazzFest staff will determine your booth location.

What beverages can I sell?

Food Vendors are only allowed to sell food from their booth, stand or truck. JazzFest holds the exclusive right to the sale of all alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages (beer, bottled water and carbonated beverages) unless a Vendor is given specific approval in writing to sell any beverage.

Is there overnight security?

Yes. But JazzFest is not liable for stolen or damage property of Vendors.

What if it rains?

The festival will go on as scheduled at Yankton Trail Park location RAIN OR SHINE. There will be no alternative location or refund arrangements in case of inclement weather. Be prepared to spend the day outside under tents, canopies, tarps, etc.

Where can I park?

No vehicle parking is allowed by your booth or in the food vending area. Each vendor will be provided with a map and pass into the area to shuttle supplies at the start of each day of the festival only. No RV’s are allowed in the park at any time. The parking pass will provide space for one regular sized vehicle.

How do I get my help into the Vendor’s area?

Vendor employees can park in JazzFest parking lots at the park or can take the shuttle buses.

Can I bring my own ice?

Any consumable ice must be purchased through JazzFest.

Can my product be exclusive?

Exclusivity is at the discretion of JazzFest organizers. Any vendor selling items not on their contract will be dismissed from the festival immediately.

Can I set up my own tent?

Yes. Vendors are fully responsible for booth structure, furnishings and lighting. Tents, trucks and trailers are allowed in the Vendor area.

Can I bring a pet?

No pets are allowed at JazzFest.

Can I bring an RV?

No. RV’s are NOT allowing in Yankton Trail Park. Do not pull a trailer with an RV, you will not be allowed to enter the festival.

Can I sell beverages? Pop? Water?

No. JazzFest has exclusive rights to sell all pop, water and beer. You will not be allowed to sell those items. In the past some vendors have paid to sell lemon aide, ice tea, etc. You must contact the JazzFest to obtain permission to do this!

How much per space?

Please contact the Sioux Falls Jazz & Blues Society’s office for fee information.

Is there electricity?

Yes. 110v power is available for Vendors located by the main stage. There is an additional charge for Vendors that need 220v power. Vending sites by the second stage have limited power.

Vendors must supply at least 50 ft. of heavy-duty 12-gauge extension cord and adapters for hook up to power source.

Can I bring my own generator?

Yes. Limits on sound and size of generators allowed are available by contacting the festival office before June 1.

How do I get a health permit?

The Department of Health will do an on-site inspection of your booth and its operations after you have set up on the evening of July 15, 2010. When your booth is approved, the Health Department will charge a fee. Guidelines for temporary food stands can be obtained from the Sioux Falls Health Department, 132 N. Dakota Ave., Sioux Falls, SD 57104.

When do contracts need to be in?

Your signed contract, filled out in full, needs to be postmarked and returned to JazzFest to vend at the festival.  If you are interested in vending at JazzFest 2010 please call the office at (605)335-6101.   Your check, insurance and other requested materials are also required at that time.

When do I know if I’m invited to attend JazzFest?

JazzFest will notify you and refund your fee IF you are not selected to participate in the festival.

What if I discover I can’t attend JazzFest after I’ve sent in my contract and check?

We are sorry, but unless not selected, your Vendor fee is non-refundable.
